Our eighth release comes from Shamik out of Vancouver. He follows up his The Point release from April with a sitar infused trip hop track. Sydney based artist Shane Kellahan is featured on the song which began as a recording session at his house in Australia in 2012.
"Shane and I met in 2009 and performed twice together at Peats Ridge Festival in Glenworth Valley, NSW. I always knew I wanted to record him playing the sitar. He put down two long takes the last time I was in Sydney, and I took my time making a song around them. After sitting on an old version for awhile, I stripped it back and changed the tempo until I was happy with this newer vibe. The song is inspired by the long journey across the Pacific between our cities and their opposite seasons." -Shamik
If Disambiguation isn’t the gothic ambient album of the summer, it’s certainly the ideal soundtrack for sunbathing alone on a float at an abandoned community pool. Bandcamp Album of the Day Jul 12, 2018
